DeShields
Born in Bentonville, Arkansas. Professional Bookkeeper/Auditor and Administrative Assistant. In 1984, founded the Sharing & Caring Community Christmas Tree Program, Inc., a non-profit organization that provided Christmas to approximately 4,000 under-privileged children in Northwest Arkansas each year. Retired from non-profit in 2002 after 18 years of service, at which time the Sharing & Caring Program operations were assumed by the Boys & Girls Club of Bentonville, Arkansas.
Writing Awards: Silver Quill Award - 1994 for children's short story Little Bear and the Great Iron Horse; Bronze Award - 2002 for children's short story Lileth, the Little Wood Nymph.
Philanthropic Awards: Life Membership (ACPT) Arkansas Congress of Parents and Teachers-1988; Woodmen of the World Outstanding Citizen Award-1991; ESA Diana Award-1992; Maxwell House Real Heroes Medal presented by Former First Lady, Barbara Bush-1993; Soroptimist International Women of Distinction Award-1994; Rogers Chamber of Commerce Pride of Rogers Award and Spirit Award-1995; Acknowledged by the Bentonville School's Counselor's Advisory Committee-1997; Recipient of City of Bentonville Proclamation declaring December 1, 2002 Debbie DeShields Day; Recipient of Certificate of Appreciation issued by Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, December 1, 2002.
Author of numerous
children's short stories, middle-grade and young-adult Christian
mysteries, romantic comedies, mainstream novels and poetry.
Published short-stories and books include this new release- With

a young-adult mystery Deadly Resemblance; a middle-grade mystery The
Lost Mummy; Award-winning short stories: Little Bear and the
Great Iron Horse, and Lileth, the Little Wood Nymph; and Internet
Marketing Manual How Realtors Make Money on the Internet. Poetry
Publications include two award-winning poems: The Friend, and
Reflection; and soon to be published - Unknown Love (poem) and
Captured (a romance short-story. Current Literary Editor of the Benton
County Historical Society's periodical the Pioneer.
